A
generous man will prosper;
he who refreshes others will
himself be refreshed.
Proverbs 11:25
Various committees and groups contribute
to Mission activities at Mifflin Presbyterian
Church. These include Deacons, Christian
Education, Presbyterian Women, and the Session,
specifically the Service Cornerstone. As
a result of the generosity of the members
of the congregation, we are able to touch
many lives, locally, nationally, internationally,
and within our church community.
Our Church community is supported through
the Care ministry, Prayer Partners, new
member activities and Church service activities
to name a few programs.
Our Care ministry has three components:
Stephen Ministers, Health Care ministry,
Pastoral visitation and counseling. The
Stephen ministers are lay people who are
taught to minister to others in need. The
ministry addresses people’s needs
and challenges such as hospitalization,
grief, loneliness, divorce, loss of a job
or birth of a child. Our Health Care ministry
is designed to help members deal with health
issues. The process of Pastoral Visitation
and Counseling is an ongoing feature of
pastors Boaz and Lokhorst. Each week visits
are made to our hospitalized members and
those needing special care. In addition,
contacts are made with church visitors as
well as those who have special requests.
Any member wishing a call from one of our
pastors may call the Church office (471-4491)
and set up a time for a visit.
Prayer ministry at Mifflin is for everyone.
We participate in Secret Prayer Partners.
All youth whose names are submitted and
who wish to participate, have a secret prayer
partner who prays for them throughout the
year. Men’s Prayer Breakfast Friday
mornings offers fellowship and support for
the church on a weekly basis. The Prayer
Team meets Tuesday mornings. After each
service Sunday morning they pray for any
specific requests or with individuals who
ask for prayer.
Several portions of the Sunday worship
services are coordinated by the Deacons:
the Ushers and Greeters. Volunteers are
arranged and trained to aid in the process
of the services. Frequent visitors to our
worship services are treated to a home baked
pie. The Deacons can be reached by contacted
471-4491 or mifflin@mifflinpres.org.
As one can see, we at Mifflin are blessed
to be able to help others. We invite you
to discover all of the mission opportunities
at Mifflin Presbyterian.
