Helping Hands Quilt
Helping Hands Quilts, quilts consisting of 9 blocks
with a different shape, size and color of hand in
each block, will be given to members of the church
who have experienced a major life style change,
such as a move to a nursing home or assisted living
residency, surgery or accident that has left them
unable to do what they have been accustomed to doing.
Other members will sign the quilts volunteering
to help the various people through that period of
their life. The quilts will then be given to the
people so that they know that they are not alone
in dealing with this change.
Young At Heart
Young At Heart are a group of people aged
60+ who enjoy a day of fun and adventure.
We travel to different places around Ohio
to sightsee and, of course, enjoy lunch.
The cost varies depending on admission prices
and where we go to lunch.
Mifflin Walkers
On every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 am
people of all ages are welcome to join us
in the fireplace room in the lower level
of the Church for devotions, walking and
socializing. We have a course mapped out
in the lower level where 14 laps equal one
mile. Pennies are collected for each lap
you walk. This is a great way to keep track
of your laps while helping to support different
charities, such as the Mifflin Puppets,
a Gahanna Residents In
Need (GRIN) Family at Christmas,
and our youth mission projects. After your
walk you can join us in the fireplace room
for coffee.
Mifflin Athletics
Mifflin sees athletic endeavors as an opportunity
for fellowship, but also as a means whereby
those who have little association with the
Christian Church can find a venue that is
both comfortable and non-threatening. We
sponsor athletic opportunities that are
participatory - bowling league, softball
league, golf outings, and volleyball leagues
to name but a few. We also make frequent
trips to OSU land to enjoy baseball, basketball
and football games (when we can get tickets).
These ventures are open to members and visitors
alike.
Men's Prayer Breakfast
The men of the Church gather each Friday
morning at 6:45 am sharp, September though
May, to lift up to the Lord their joys and
concerns in prayer; they are witnesses to
its miraculous and transforming power.
The men take turns preparing a hot breakfast
by volunteering to be on one monthly cooking
team per year. The gathering concludes promptly
at 7:30 am.
Prayer Partners
Mifflin’s Prayer Partner program
pairs a child with a praying adult for each
school year. Each adult commits to praying
for their student/child partner for a minimum
of 15 minutes per week from October through
early June. The school year program has
included Meet Your Prayer Partner lunches
and encourages Christian fellowship and
fostering of multi-generational relationships
as well as focused prayer for our children.
Registration forms for children and adults
are available each fall. Contact Mandi Shirley
for more information: mshirley@mifflinpres.org.
Mifflin
Puppets
Puppeteers 6th grade to 12th grade bring
the Mifflin Puppets (Candle, Jason, Bugby,
and Howard) to life once a month during
worship service and at special performances
thoughout the year. Puppeteers practice
on Sunday mornings at 8:15 a.m.
Quilt Bee-lievers
Quilting Bee-lievers is a group of women
who meet on the first and third Monday nights
at 7:00 pm, who want to learn how to quilt
or who already enjoy quilting and want to
spend an evening sewing. We are currently
learning a new technique call "paper
piecing." We bring our sewing machines
and other sewing tools and sew until our
hearts are content (normally until around
9:00 pm). Watch this website for our next
project.
